What this service is

Asphalt Shingle Roofing explained

You want a proven, warrantied shingle roof installed correctly, and you want to know what actually separates a 15-year roof from a 30-year one.

Architectural asphalt shingle is the right system for the large majority of New Jersey homes. It handles freeze-thaw well, it can be detailed around the dormers and valleys that are common on North Jersey housing, and the manufacturer warranty options are the strongest in residential roofing.

The shingle itself is the least important variable in how long the roof lasts. Ventilation, underlayment and flashing decide that. We have torn off premium shingles that failed early because the attic had no intake ventilation, and we have seen mid-tier shingles reach their full service life because everything beneath them was installed correctly.

Every asphalt roof we install gets ice-and-water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment across the field, new step and counterflashing at wall junctions, and a balanced ridge and intake ventilation system.

Existing shingles are curling, cupping or bald in patches
Granules are collecting in gutters and at downspout outlets
The roof is over 20 years old on its original layer
Attic is hot and humid year round, a sign of poor ventilation
Previous roof was installed over an existing layer

What Alba Pro Construction does

Our asphalt shingle roofing process.

Install GAF Timberline HDZ systems

Our standard architectural shingle system, installed to the manufacturer's specified nailing pattern so the warranty holds.

Build the full assembly

Ice-and-water shield, synthetic underlayment, starter course, new flashing, field shingles, hip and ridge caps.

Balance the ventilation

Ridge vent paired with adequate soffit intake, because exhaust without intake shortens shingle life.

Register the manufacturer warranty

Manufacturer-backed warranties are registered in your name, including lifetime manufacturer warranty options where applicable.

Materials and systems

What we install and why.

GAF Timberline HDZ: Architectural laminate shingle with a wide nailing zone, our default recommendation for New Jersey homes.
Synthetic underlayment: Lays flatter and tears less than felt, and holds up better if weather arrives mid-install.
Ice-and-water shield: Self-adhering membrane at eaves, valleys and penetrations, which is what protects a New Jersey roof through February.
Aluminum and copper flashing: New metal at every wall junction, chimney and skylight rather than reused flashing.

Typical project scope

A standard asphalt shingle replacement is completed in one to three days on site for most single-family homes in North Jersey.

Pricing

Asphalt shingle roof replacement projects start at approximately $9,000, set by roof size, pitch, existing layer count, decking condition and flashing complexity.

Common questions

What homeowners ask us.

How long does an asphalt shingle roof last in New Jersey?+

A correctly installed and properly ventilated architectural shingle roof commonly reaches 25 to 30 years in New Jersey. Poor ventilation and skipped flashing details are what cut that short.

What is GAF Timberline HDZ?+

GAF Timberline HDZ is an architectural laminate asphalt shingle with a wide nailing zone. Alba Pro Construction installs it with GAF-certified workmanship and registers the manufacturer warranty in your name.

Can you install shingles over my existing roof?+

We tear off to the deck instead. Covering an existing layer hides decking problems, traps heat and shortens the life of the new roof.

What warranty do I get?+

A 10-year Alba Pro Construction workmanship guarantee plus manufacturer-backed warranties, including lifetime manufacturer warranty options where applicable.
